Robotic Dinosaur Kit

10/10 would recommend! I loved having an outdoor family craft day while building these dinosaurs together with the kids! They loved the whole thing so much! Easy instructions to follow and the kit includes everything from paint and paintbrushes, to the whole mechanical assembly!

I really had fun building these kits with three of my kids. I did pretty much everything for my 4 year old, but my 8 and 10 year old boys were able to do about 90% of the build. I had to help with the wiring and a few small adjustments in part placements.I found the build quality to be excellent and the instructions very good. We didn't have any second guessing or redoing because of hard to follow instructions, which is really nice.We didn't have any parts break during the build. I have had things like this happen before, which is frustrating. The feet are a potential week point where the screws thread in. I have one break after some use. Nothing a little wood glue wouldn't fix.Three things I thought could use improvement. They are related to the wiring. 1) The wire is VERY thin and likely won't hold up to much use. Probably something like a 22 or 24 gage. 2) The positive and negative are not marked on the wire, which isn't a big deal, but does mean that you have a 50% chance of the buttons doing the opposite function as you would expect. 3) I added a a knot in the wire inside the build to keep it from pulling directly on the terminals. This will keep the wire connections from coming use when the wire is pulled on during use. See photos for example.With the knotted wire modification, these are great and I highly recommend them!

This is a STEM activity set that includes 3 whole dinosaur activities. I was really impressed with the quality of each of the kits and did I mention it contains 3 instead of just 1. I got this for my Grandson who is only 3 so it was a bit of an challenge for him to do alone. This would be a great set for an older kid. We were able to finish 1 dino but I had to do it for him. We decided to save the other 2 for another day. The sets are good and if you follow the directions an older kid would have no problems finishing. Even so I gave this set 5 Stars. It is a great idea and with all the stuff included in the kit it is a very good value. This would be a perfect snow day activity for a school age child.

This was a fun dinosaur building kit that I did with my kids. The instructions were easy to understand and follow for me. My 13 year olds were also able to follow the instructions to put these together helping their younger siblings. Younger children will definitely need assistance putting these together. We decided not to paint these, but the kids did take markers later and color them.Once they were all put together the kids had fun playing with them and having dinosaur battles with them. These are built out of wood so they are breakable and it didn't take too long before the head piece broke on the Brachiosaurus. I was able to glue and tape it back together. The Brachiosaurus is the most wobbly when walking. The T-rex and Triceratops were more stable walking. Some of the pieces (the little circle pieces that hold the legs on for example) tended to fall off after some time. A tiny bit of glue on the outside part can be used to fix this, you would just have to be careful not to get the glue on any of the moving parts.

This is a neat Stem Kit for my 9 year old daughter. Kept her entertained for a long while. The wood is soft balsa and is fragile. Some parts inevitably break. Luckily they have extra wood parts in each kit that come in handy.Instructions with each kit are pretty good. I would recommend using wire cutters to skin the leads on the battery packs more so than a lighter as the instructions say.

My son loved building the dino. He was completely engaged throughout this activity. Once built, the dino was fun to play and interact with.

I worked on this project with my 4 year-old-son who loves dinosaurs! It was too challenging for him to do alone, but it was a great bonding experience for us to work on together! It combined his love of dinosaurs with building and technology. The dinosaur moved well when we attached the wires. If you have a child who loves dinosaurs and building, I highly recommend this product!

It's a really fun family activity! I like that it gives the kids the opportunity to paint, assemble and bring the Creation to life!

My son loves projects where he can build, the fact that it also moves is just so cool! It’s a great activity to do together. Very easy to understand and such a good time!

This kit has been so much fun! I ordered it for my dino-obsessed nephew but after completing a similar kit with my older daughter I realized it would be too difficult for him. It goes beyond the very basic assembly I expected. My daughter built and painted one dino for him, assembled the second dino and allowed him to paint that one, and let him "help" her with the third by handing her pieces until he got bored. So many great lessons here, including the unintended ones. :)Please note that the main material is balsa wood. This wood is very lightweight and fragile. It's not a flaw with the product. Balsa wood is often used to keep costs low in kits like this. The added cost of a heavier/denser wood and the cost of mechanics that could move/support said wood would likely prevent the manufacturer from creating a kit that's so affordable. You should expect this to be a project rather than a "toy" and younger kids will probably need supervision when using the robots.

My boys loved this craft from start to finish! What a great way to learn and bond together!

Super cute! While it was a lot more time consuming that we initially expected, the end result was a blast! This definitely isn't a kit I would have my kids do on their own (lots of fine motor skills needed with screwing pieces together) but it was a lot of fun to do together as a family project. The kids loved seeing their Dino creations come to life! A great gift idea for kids ages 8 and up to keep them engaged.

High quality pieces are easy to put together. A great kit to have ready for a rainy day!

This pack of 3 robotic dinos was a fun project to do with my 5 & 6 year old grandkids when they came to visit. My biggest problem with the kit is the soft balsa wood the dinos are made with, which breaks very easily. For the price, thin pine or some wood veneer at least would have made it a better quality kit without really adding much to the cost.Besides that, it brings back wonderful memories of projects I did with my own Dad, who was really into woodworking and robotics and electronics. I was sanding and even soldering from basically the time I could walk, so it's never too soon to learn how things work. Turns out I have a lot more patience as a Grandma! They had a lot of fun learning about electrical signals and the basics of robotics with their favorite creatures, and making them walk around.At about $20 when I ordered, these are a little on the high side of what I'd expect in terms of value, so I recommend keeping an eye out for sales and coupons if you're getting it. Again, my hangup is the balsa, but these are still good for fun with an educational bonus.

I ordered this for my dino-obsessed five year old and it was definitely a hit. The kit allows you to build three dinosaurs and for the price, I was actually pretty impressed with the quality of the wooden pieces and even more importantly, the instructions. Although it does say ages 5+, do know that if your child is on the younger end of the age range, they'll need some assistance from you.The kit comes with paint, but fortunately, our kiddo opted to decorate with markers instead because he wanted to be able to play with the dinosaurs without having to wait for the paint to dry (which I was more than happy with!).Overall, great activity to spend time with your child doing something that's both fun and STEM-related. I'm already looking into this brand's other kits!

good gift for kids

I got this for my 7 yo, and he has been enjoying putting the dinosaurs together and painting them. Instructions are a little hard to follow, but you get it built if you read carefully. He has needed some adult help with eh diagrams, but it has been fun to do together.

We got these for my 6 year old. He enjoys crafts and building so we figured he would love this and we were right. However, it’s definitely difficult to assemble- my husband basically put it together. It says 5 and up, but the actual building aspect is too advanced for most 5 year olds (and I’d say most 6-10 year olds too). But once it was assembled he enjoyed painting it and likes playing with it.

So on the plus side, the parts for this kit seem sturdy and well-engineered, they do fit together well.And a HUGE plus is that the instructions are written in actual English (as opposed to "obviously-translated English" which just leaves everyone confused).However, the kits are difficult to complete.My 10 year old, who is an old hand at doing complex Lego kits and other robotic kits, found the steps to be somewhat poorly diagrammed in places, and he needed adult help more than with other kits.The finished products look nice, and they do move around (we had fun making the T-rex stagger around chasing our dogs).It's not a bad product, and not impossible to complete.

Kids put these dinosaurs together for a STEM project. They loved them! And then I think they brought them home to their younger brothers and sisters.

Soft Warning - The balsa wood is fragile and will break if you aren't a little gentle.This set is so much fun. You can make three complete robot dinosaurs with everything that is included. Each one has the mechanics and controls so you could make all three walk at the same time.To assemble you need to "punch out" the pieces from the balsa wood, screw them together, and attach the mechanical parts. You can paint your dinosaur which I would recommend doing before you assemble.Each dinosaur comes in its own bag so you could easily build one today and keep the other two for another day. Super fun project!

Fun intermediate project to work on for evening or weekend family time. Also great for homeschool STEM project to add to your curriculum.

This was a bit complicated to assemble and definitely requires an adult to assist. However, it was very exciting to get to the finished product. My son loves it!
