Step-by-Step Instructions of the Water Filter Kit

Experiment 1 - Cleaning Dirty Water

Add a pinch of dirt (not provided) until the water changes to a dirty looking color.
Pour your water into the top chamber.
Watch closely as the water flows through the three chambers, so you can accurately record your observations. Flow speed is one of the things you will need to record.
The water in the bottom beaker should be a lot cleaner than the mix you poured into the top chamber.
Try different amounts of dirt in your mix and see how the filters react and how clear the water is once it collects in the bottom beaker.

Experiment 2 - Water That Cannot Be Filtered

Use the filter tower you assembled, but replace the filter paper in each chamber. Add a few drops of ink or watercolor paint (not provided) until the water changes color.
Pour the mixture into the top chamber and observe closely how the water flows through the chamber.
This time the water in the bottom beaker should be colored and not very clean.
