What Your Child Makes

The Soap Making Kit turns kids into real soap makers. They melt a few pieces of soap base, stir in a color plus a few drops of scent or a spoonful of glitter, and pour it into the mold. About 30 minutes later the soap has hardened and pops out, ready to use at the sink or tuck into the gift box. There is enough base for 16 soaps, so there are plenty to keep and plenty to share.

Pick the mold your child will love most. Sea Life makes 7 shapes, including a starfish, seahorse, and dolphin, and comes with a mermaid gift box. So much FUN!

This kit is so much fun and a great sensory activity! My son loves the shapes and smells of the Dino soaps, we had so much fun making all the different Dino’s and he carries them with him in this cool little Dino box it comes with inside of his backpack. It makes washing his hands so much fun and there’s so many bubbles ! 10/10

So easy and SO fun for the kids!

I had the opportunity to receive one of these crafts from Pinwheel Crafts as a gift for promotion, and let me tell you, it was actually very fun and extremely easy to do with my boys. We were able to do the Dinosaur Soap Making Kit and it was so fun! Plus side of things, my youngest wanted to take a bath with his new Dino soaps immediately after we got done making them. Highly recommend getting one of their kits to do as an activity with the kids!

You can get two full uses out of this craft! So many color and smell options to customize, our gal loves blue so that was what we did! Fun gift box to package it up in. Our little one is almost three and this was the perfect activity for her!

Dahlia had a blast making her very first soaps from a gift she received. This was SUPER EASY to do which made me as a Mom happy! The directions were very easy to follow along with, and the scents smell delicious! Dahlia was able to be creative and crafty, and it didn’t take too long to do which is another bonus. Lovely kit for my daughter and me!

My daughter and I had so much fun with the Unicorn Soap Making Kit. Soap making sounds complicated, but this kit made it so easy! We followed the step-by-step instructions, and our soaps turned out so great!

Some steps require adult assistance, but my daughter was able to do much of it herself. I loved watching her face light up with pride when she pulled her soap out of the mold, knowing SHE did that!!

This was a fun project to work on with the kids, they really enjoyed it and wanted to make a new soap everyday. The product itself was ok, the soap can get really sticky while making it which cleans up easily with super hot water. The product does get really hot out of the microwave so just be mindful when allowing your kids to be independent.

What's included in the Soap Making Kit?

Everything your child needs to make 16 soaps. There is white and clear melt-and-pour soap base, a silicone mold in the theme you choose, 2 essential oil scents, colors, and glitter. The Dinosaur, Flower, and Unicorn kits come with 5 liquid colors, and the Sea Life kit comes with 3 color tablets. You also get a measuring cup, a stir stick, a plastic knife, a small spoon, a foaming net, a themed gift box, and step-by-step instructions.

Which theme should I choose?

Each theme has its own mold. Sea Life makes 7 shapes, including a starfish, seahorse, shell, and dolphin, and comes with a mermaid gift box. Dinosaur makes 6 dinosaur shapes. Unicorn makes 6 shapes, including a unicorn, a rainbow, a heart, and a star. Flowers & Butterflies makes 8 shapes. The soap base, scents, glitter, and tools are the same in every theme, so pick the one your child will love most.

How long does it take?

The soap base is heated for 20 seconds, then gets checked every 10 seconds until it is liquid. After the color, scent, or glitter is stirred in and the soap is poured, it needs about 30 minutes to harden before it comes out of the mold. Two-color soaps take a little longer, since the first layer sets for 20 minutes before the second is poured.

What ages is it best for?

It is recommended for ages 8 and up. Kids choose the colors, scents, and glitter, stir, and pour, and a grown-up melts the soap base and helps with the hot measuring cup.

Is it safe for kids?

Every Pinwheel Crafts kit is CPSIA compliant, which means it meets the US federal safety requirements for children's products, and this kit conforms to ASTM D-4236, the US labeling standard for art materials. It contains small parts, so it is not for children under 3. Melting the soap base uses heat, and the measuring cup gets hot, so an adult should help with that step to avoid burns. The kit also contains ingredients that may be harmful if misused, so read the cautions on each container and use it with adult supervision.

Can we use the mold again?

Yes. The silicone mold and tools are reusable, so kids can make soaps across several sessions until the soap base runs out. Two-color soaps are a fun next step: pour one color, let it set for 20 minutes, then add the second layer.

Can kids use the soaps they make?

Yes. Once a soap has hardened and comes out of the mold, it is ready to use at the sink. The foaming net in the box helps it lather, which makes hand washing a lot more fun.

Does it make a good gift?

Yes. Every kit includes a themed gift box that kids fold themselves, so a finished soap is ready to give to a grandparent, teacher, or friend. With enough base for 16 soaps, there are plenty to share, and it is a great pick for birthdays and holidays.
